Specifications:
Manufacturer:
Model: UH12 B/C
Age:1952
Category:
aircraft-for-sale/for-saleDescription:
1952 Hiller UH12 B/C Fully refurbished in 2004 including new (not re-con) 210 BHP Franklin engine and main rotor blades.
Imported into the UK shortly after as a 'spare' where it was flown very occasionally. Last annual was in 2006 and has been in hangar storage ever since.
Last year I took it out and cleaned it up. It started on the button (aux power) and I hover taxi'd up and down the strip for around 20 minutes. Fly's exactly like a 'proper' helicopter should and a real pleasure. There is something very special about flying these period machines, if you have ever had stick time on a Hiller or Bell 47 you will know exactly what I mean!
A rare opportunity to acquire a very low hours machine with all major components in excellent condition. Will need an appropriate overhaul, new battery, rubber hoses etc. annual and paperwork re-instate the FAA registration.
"You're going to be one of the most confident pilots in the rotary world, because the stability of the UH12 and its autorotational behaviour, are beyond compare. You can add to the upside the fact that it is a cheap as chips to (by helicopter standards), goes on forever, could be flown with half-an-hours tuition by your maiden aunt, and provides the best picture window you'll ever get on this world. If you need a personal runabout for social, domestic and pleasure, this is it." [Pilot Magazine feature article May 2002]
The UH12 has just two time limited components which are in the tail rotor assembly. All other parts are on condition. This keeps ownership costs to a minimum.
At the time this re-manufactured aircraft was imported they were being sold for £96,000. This is a real bargain!
Here are a couple of links showing the start up and landing following test taxi flight. No rust on the A/C which is more than can be said for my pilot skills after 10+ yrs out of the saddle!
