Description:

Round the world propeller
Evra propeller fitted as original equipment on Jodel D140 G-ARDZ, and still attached to the same 180HP Lycoming for the aircraft's flight round the world in the 1980s. The story of this epic adventure was published in Pilot Magazine, and is still available on line, and amongst much else, it relates the 11 or 12 hour legs where the aircraft was so heavy with fuel it wouldn't climb out of ground effect for over an hour. Fortunately the pilot – and his bride of 10 days... were over calm seas at the time. This propeller was still flying when the aircraft was taken out of service in the late 1980s, and there is now some cracking visible on the surface finish of one blade. I have used it as a test prop for an engine project, and it could possibly be made serviceable, but best assume not. In which case, it would look great on the wall of your hangar, man cave, or if you are so inclined, bedroom. Depends with whom you are sharing…
