Description:

PA28 Share at Fairoaks (EGTF)

Overview

There is a rare opportunity to acquire a share in a Piper PA28-161, operated by a long standing, well-run and friendly group based at Fairoaks (EGTF). This group is welcoming, friendly and efficiently managed, making this an appealing choice for cost effective flying.

Members share a common goal of operating a tidy and well looked-after aircraft which has been carefully maintained by Goodwood Engineering for a number of years and has never been used for school based flight training.

Aircraft Availability and Booking

The aircraft boasts excellent availability, having averaged not much more than 100 flying hours per year over the past few years. Usage is well distributed throughout the week and booked via an on line booking system, which also has an iPhone and Android app for convenience. Touring and extended bookings are welcomed, with multi day trips to France, Ireland and the Channel Islands flown this year.

Avionics and Equipment

The aircraft is IFR and airways equipped, featuring capable avionics. The Garmin GNS 430 and 255A units are subscribed to the Garmin database update programme funded by the group. The avionics suite includes:

Garmin G5 with battery backup
Garmin GNS 430 Com 1 / Nav 1 radios and GPS (RNAV approach
approved)
Garmin GNC 255A Com 2 / Nav 2
Garmin GTX 330 Mode S transponder
Garmin GMA342 audio panel
Bendix King KN64 DME
JP Instruments EDM 730 engine monitor
Dual Altimeter
Dual CDI

Additional Information

The aircraft received a bare metal respray in 2015 and brand new Lycoming cylinder assemblies were installed in February 2018. The group maintains a healthy engine fund as well as a significant operational fund.

I estimate that the paint is 8/10 and the interior 7/10.

The aircraft benefits from a landing card at Fairoaks (you pay no landing fees) and has its own extra-large concrete pad for parking.

Additional equipment includes a cover, life raft, three life jackets, two spare headsets, and a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB).

Fairoaks

Fairoaks is a bustling GA and commercial airfield with a flight school and caf . It has excellent road access from the M3 or M25 and is only a few miles from Woking where trains run to London every 20-30 minutes.

Fairoaks is located to the southwest of Heathrow and northeast of Farnborough just inside the London CTR. Fairoaks can be accessed from the east, southwest and south VFR and there are very easy and well organised transits through either the Heathrow zone or Farnborough to the north and west.
The airfield boasts an all-weather 800m asphalt runway, pilot operated runway lighting and out of hours operations.

Reason for Sale

Having completed my night and IRR in the aircraft, I am now undertaking an IR and am looking for new challenges and travel opportunities.

Price and Costs

My 1/8 th share is priced at £12,500 or very near offer. Ongoing costs comprise £160 per month and £140 per tacho hour wet which covers fuel, insurance, parking, landing card, Garmin updates, 50h, annual and contribution to engine fund etc.

Purchase Process

The group has a minimum requirement that the purchaser is a recreational flyer (no hour builders) and have a full SEP(A) with at least 60 hours total time. During the purchase process, it is likely that a remaining member may wish to meet you and references may be taken. Prior to flying the aircraft solo, you will need to be signed off as safe by an instructor approved by the group.
