Advertising Guidelines

How to create effective listings that attract genuine buyers

Getting the Most From Your Listing

Following these simple guidelines will help you create adverts that attract serious, genuine interest from buyers in the private aviation market. A well-written listing with good photos sells faster and at a better price.

Creating Your Advert

Choose the Right Category

Select the most accurate category for your listing — whether it's a complete aircraft, engine, propeller, avionics, ground equipment, or other aviation item. The right category ensures serious buyers can find you efficiently.

Craft a Clear Title

Your title should immediately tell buyers what you're selling. Include make, model, and type.

✓ Good: "1978 Cessna 172N Skyhawk — Low Hours"
✓ Good: "Garmin GNS 430W WAAS GPS Navigator"
✗ Poor: "Plane for Sale"

Upload Quality Photos

You can upload up to 12 images at 8 megapixels. Excellent photos are vital. For aircraft, include exterior shots from multiple angles, cockpit and cabin interiors, engine photos, and close-ups of key features. For parts, show the item clearly including any labels or part numbers.

Set a Realistic Price

Research the market value of similar aircraft, parts, or equipment before listing. If the price is negotiable, state "Or Best Offer" to encourage serious enquiries.

Specify the Location

Provide the airfield identifier or region where the item can be inspected or collected. Avoid including hangar numbers or exact street addresses in the public advert description.

What to Include in Your Description

For Aircraft

Make, Model, Year of Manufacture, Serial Number, Total Time Airframe (TTAF), Engine Make/Model with Total Time and SMOH, Propeller details with SPOH, full Avionics list (including WAAS, ADS-B compliance), ARC expiry date, damage history if any, paint and interior condition, logbook availability, and location.

For Parts & Equipment

Part number if available, condition (New / Used / Overhauled / Serviceable / As Removed), total time or cycles if applicable, history, and compatibility information.

For Other Items

Condition, age, key features, and any relevant standards compliance. The more detail you provide, the fewer unnecessary enquiries you'll receive — and the more confident a serious buyer will feel.
