Description
A reluctant sale due to this lovely jacket being slightly too small for me. These jackets retail for £576.00 when new, so this is your chance to obtain an iconic piece of aviation clothing for a reasonable price given its stunning, hardly worn, condition.
This Aviation Leathercraft Tornado Jacket Type 2502 is in superb condition with a lustrous Black leather outer shell and unmarked warm maroon cotton drill lining with 5 (V) Army Cooperation SQNs 'Maple Leaf' Badge. Whilst it is a heavy leather jacket it is supple and very wearable. It is labelled as a Size 38 Regular fitting which is true to size, I'm 5'11'' and have a 40'' chest; specific dimensions are in the photos and on the manufacturer's website.
These jackets are made by Aviation Leathercraft of Thruxton, the best known manufacturer of fine quality leather flying jackets supplying to RAF and Fleet Air Arm Squadrons. This is an individual 'tribal' Squadron jacket and is not the approved MoD pattern, hence the rare maroon lining. The design inspired by the classic USAAF A2 Jacket of WWII. You can tell the quality by the single piece leather back to the jacket.
The jacket comprises heavy duty front brass zip with two press-studded bellows pockets to the front, ideal for phone etc. with integral slash `hand warmer' pockets behind to either side. Inside there is a press stud deep 'luger pocket' for wallet etc. There is also a `pen pocket' on the left sleeve with Velcro fasten epaulettes to both shoulders. The waistband and cuffs are protected by a wool knitted black band.
Hope it goes to a good home.
