SOLD, THANKS AFORS. Fully Functioning Pilotaware Classic. This is the early version of the PilotAware portable Electronic Conspicuity (EC) device designed to enhance situational awareness by detecting aircraft via Mode-S, P3i, and FLARM. It is a carry-on, 'temporary' installation that connects to tablets and smartphones via its internal Wi-Fi. It uses ground stations and GPS to provide traffic alerts, and will do so either direct via its own audio system (hardwire or Bluetooth), or via apps like SkyDemon.
This unit is the complete PilotAware Classic with the Raspberry Pi2B micro-computer and an upgraded license enabling all the latest functionality, inc Voice Alerts and Mode S detection .
I inherited the system with my 'new' aeroplane but I already had a PAW Rosetta. The differences between the 2 are not hugely significant but I'm sticking with 'mine'. The system works really well as you can see from the Vector diagram of its recent use - over 20km range on average is much more than enough. The antenna directional performance depends so much on antenna placement and that depends on where it is fitted - and every aeroplane is different. Like everything else, it's a compromise and the results from thiis system are more than good enough.
Not shown is power plug for the 12v socket - I forgot to bring it from hangar. Sorry, and I'll post photo of it before anyone buys.
