Description:

Auster V J1 Autocrat for sale

1947 Auster V J1 Autocrat G-AJRB (cn. 2350) for sale.
The aircraft is a well known and well flown ‘pilot maker’ which spent almost 25 years of its life at Sywell Aerodrome, Northampton, where it remains somewhat of a legend.
The time here was spent primarily with Brooklands Aviation Ltd then a number of private owners and syndicates.

The aircraft was transferred from a CAA Certificate of airworthiness to a LAA permit to fly in 2008.

The aircraft is powered by a Blackburn Cirrus Minor II Engine (100hp). The Engine was zero timed in 2001 and in 2010 underwent a complete rebuild by QDM Services. The engine was stripped, a new crankshaft installed and all bearings replaced, the aircraft having only done 103 hours since.

The installed propeller is an approved Hordern Richmond propeller recently overhauled by Hercules propellers. (owner of Hordern Richmond propeller rights).

The Aircraft undertook an extensive rebuild at Eggesford in 2008 to return it to airworthiness after which it has remained so, except a small interlude where it was stored during the Covid Pandemic. Following this the aircraft was subject to light restoration in 2022 to refresh the aircraft. The aircraft is currently owned by the Northumberland Vintage Aircraft group and based at Eshott Airfield, Northumberland since 2022.

Currently the aircraft is underutilized and deserves to be flown more regularly, thus the reluctant sale.

The Aircraft is Based at Eshott Airfield in Northumberland, around 25 miles north of Newcastle. The issued permit to fly will expire in July 2026.
