A rare and original 1939 Piper J3L Cub, rolling off the production line only weeks before the outbreak of WW2 in August 1939. G-CIIW is one of the few surviving original J3L Cubs fitted with the Lycoming O-145-B2 engine.

Fuel & Performance:

Condition & Maintenance:
Restored in 2017 by Cooper Aerial Surveys, including a full recover. Airframe and fabric remain in good condition.

Two cylinder heads were overhauled in 2024 by Richard Kimberley Services following low compression readings.

Since overhaul, all four cylinders have consistently shown excellent compression (80/80 on the last two annual inspections).

Oil has been changed every 20 hours, or seasonally in spring/winter regardless of hours flown. Currently sipping very little oil on 15W-50.
