Description

For sale, a beautifully presented and exceptionally well-sorted Yakovlev Yak-52, upgraded with the highly desirable 400hp engine conversion and MT three-blade composite propeller. Owned and maintained for the last 11 years by Russian Radials Ltd, one of the UK’s leading specialists in Russian aircraft and radial engines, G-BXAK represents a rare opportunity to acquire a Yak-52 that has benefitted from expert ownership and substantial investment. Finished in an attractive Soviet training scheme, this aircraft combines authentic warbird character with enhanced performance and excellent mechanical pedigree.

Unlike many Yak-52s on the market, G-BXAK has undergone extensive inspection and maintenance during its current ownership. The aircraft has been completely reviewed throughout, including a wings-off inspection as part of the 600-hour airframe extension. The upgraded M14PF 400hp engine and MT three-blade propeller were installed by the current owners and transform the aircraft’s performance, providing stronger climb capability, improved aerobatic performance and smoother operation. Fresh from annual inspection, this is a genuinely sorted example that is ready to fly and enjoy immediately.

With 1,488 airframe hours, the aircraft remains in regular operation and presents extremely well throughout. The cockpit retains the classic military trainer feel whilst benefiting from practical modern avionics upgrades. The powerful Vedeneyev radial engine delivers outstanding performance and is complemented perfectly by the modern MT propeller installation and smoke system. The aircraft offers an ideal combination of warbird ownership, aerobatic capability and high speed touring.

Recent maintenance includes completion of the annual / six-month inspection and associated rectification work. Engine time stands at approximately 265 hours since new/rebuild and 221 hours since top overhaul, with the MT propeller having approximately 12 hours since zero time overhaul. All aircraft, engine and propeller logbooks are present and available for inspection.

A rare opportunity to acquire a highly developed Yak-52 with exceptional ownership history, significant upgrades and maintenance carried out by recognised experts in the type.
