Summary
N182GC is a versatile touring aircraft with a wide cabin, easily carrying four people, luggage often with full fuel. The 230HP engine gives excellent short field performance and the three stages of flap allow good short field landings. 130 knots TAS is achievable on around 40 litres per hour fuel burn. Useful load is around 1100lbs. The aircraft has long range tanks giving 285 litres useful capacity, about seven hours endurance.
There is a weekend rota and excellent weekday availability, all bookable online.
Description
N182GC is a 1978 Cessna 182Q aircraft hangared at Leicester aerodrome. It is operated by a well-run, long established and friendly group of eight members. The monthly subscription is £140 and the hourly tacho flying rate is £150 wet. The Annual was completed in December 2025 and the total time on the airframe as of that date (The Annual) was 3907 hours.
The engine is 230HP 0-470-0 zero timed in August 2020 and as of December 2025 it had 450 hours. The propellor, a McCauley VP propeller was overhauled in June 2022 and has 95% of prop life remaining. The aircraft has recently been fitted with a new starter motor.
The aircraft has undergone an avionics upgrade. It has an Aspen 1000 PFD, a new Avidyne Nav/Com slaved to the PFD, a JPI EDM engine monitor and a mode S transponder.
There is a full set of standby instruments: A second Coms box, a VOR/DME navigation box, ASI, Altimeter,VOR/GS instrument, an AI, ADF, T/S indicator, RPM and Manifold Pressure instrument. It also has a CO alarm.
The interior has been reupholstered to a high standard in grey leather and the exterior has been resprayed in white and blue.
Wing tip strobes have been added as have LED taxi and landing lights.
There is a tow bar, aircraft cover and tie downs.
