Manchester Barton (EGCB)

Two aircraft syndicate:
• Ikarus C42C (delivered July 2023)
• Skyleader 400 Sport (delivery August 2026)

Our syndicate is well established, having been in place for twenty years. During that time, the group has upgraded its aircraft three times and now owns its fourth aircraft outright: a highly specced C42C that is less than 3 years old.

The Group is committed to ongoing professional maintenance, improvements and upgrades and the current monthly fee of £64.11 covers all fixed costs.

This year, our group is expanding to two aircraft, adding a new well-equipped Skyleader 400 Sport that has been on order since November and is scheduled for delivery in August.

ABOUT THE IKARUS. £30 per hour (dry)
Rotax 912 ULS (100 bhp). Helix 3-blade prop, BRS, electric flaps and trim, Beringer brakes, LED lights, Rosetta FX with 5G on-board router, Kanardia Horis EFIS, Kanardia Indu hybrid instruments, Trig radio with Sky Demon integration, Trig transponder with certified GPS source. Regularly serviced. Housed in the new hangar (Hangar 2).

ABOUT THE SKYLEADER. £45 per hour (dry)
Rotax 912 ULS (100 bhp). E-prop Durandel, BRS, Kanardia Nesis IV 10.1” with Kliky controller, autopilot, electric flaps and trim, Beringer brakes, Rosetta FX with 5G on-board router, Trig radio with Sky Demon integration, Trig transponder with certified GPS source.

The current syndicate of 15 has operated successfully with a single aeroplane and is now expanding to 27 members, broadening its offering and further improving aircraft availability. Members can choose between cheap flying in the Ikarus (which in the last two years has flown to Scotland, East Anglia, Sandown and the south coast) or a little more sophisticated flying in the glass-cockpit environment of the Skyleader. The initial hourly rates reflect acquisition cost differences based on 250 hours per year and have been set to optimise utilisation across both aircraft. Hourly rates are reviewed at every AGM.
