Description
Mike Alpha is a Mooney 201 (M20J) built in 1982 and imported into the UK in 1992. It was purchased by the existing syndicate in 1992 and brought to Cambridge where it has remained until February 2026. It was then moved to Fowlmere and is hangared there. It is a superb aircraft for IFR touring, but probably best described as a 2+2 rather than a four seater. It is excellent for European and longer distance UK touring. It can cruise in excess of 150kt burning around 10 USG per hour. Mike Alpha is extremely well equipped: Over the past few years, the avionics has been significantly updated and now comprises: Garmin G5 AHI, Garmin G5 HSI, Garmin GFC 500 autopilot, Garmin GTN 750 IFR nav system, Garmin GNS430 GPS Nav Com, Garmin GTX 330 transponder with ADSB-out, Garmin GI275 engine monitor, King DME and ADF, Golze satelite weather. The engine was replaced in 2025 with a new zero-timed, factory reconditioned IO360, the engine monitor was installed at the same time. Mike Alpha is maintained by Modern Air at its’ home airfield Fowlmere.
The aircraft is ideal for IFR touring and all syndicate members are either IR or IR(R) rated and MA offering great value for money flying. Very well run and friendly syndicate who often fly together and with an online booking system with great availability. The hourly rate for the aircraft (wet) is £125. The monthly charge for each syndicate member is £300.
