Description

Wilco Aviation is pleased to exclusively offer the opportunity to join a newly forming seven-member syndicate around Yakovlev Yak-52 G-BWSV, based at North Weald Airfield.

The aircraft has been privately owned and operated by its current owner from North Weald for the past 11 years. One share will be retained by the current owner, with the remaining six 1/7 shares now available.

This is an exciting opportunity to enjoy ownership of one of the world’s most distinctive and capable military training aircraft while sharing the fixed costs of ownership within a manageable seven-person group.

Hourly Flying Rate: £110 dry

The Yakovlev Yak-52 is a Soviet-designed primary trainer that first flew in 1976 and was produced by Aerostar in Romania between 1977 and 1998. Originally developed as an aerobatic trainer for the Soviet DOSAAF training programme, the Yak-52 was designed to prepare civilian sport pilots and military aviators for the handling characteristics of high-performance military aircraft.

Today, the Yak-52 remains one of the most recognisable and widely enjoyed warbird-style aircraft in private ownership. It continues to be flown recreationally, at air displays and in international aerobatic competition, including the FAI World Aerobatic Yak-52 Championship.

Powered by the formidable 360 hp Vedeneyev M14P nine-cylinder radial engine, the Yak-52 offers an unmistakable combination of sound, presence and performance. The engine drives a two-bladed, variable-pitch propeller and provides the aircraft with impressive acceleration, climb performance and aerobatic capability.

Its tandem cockpit, military instrumentation and robust all-metal construction deliver an authentic training-aircraft experience. Despite its imposing appearance and exceptional performance, the Yak-52 is renowned for being predictable and rewarding to fly when operated by suitably trained and experienced pilots.

Designed specifically for military and aerobatic training, the aircraft is equipped with fuel and oil systems capable of supporting sustained inverted flight. With operating limits of approximately +7 and –5 G and an exceptional roll rate, the Yak-52 is capable of performing the full range of aerobatic manoeuvres required for recreational and competitive flying up to Advanced level.

One of the aircraft’s most distinctive features is its extensive pneumatic system. Engine starting, landing gear operation, flaps and wheel brakes are all powered by compressed air, supported by both primary and emergency pneumatic systems. The retractable tricycle landing gear remains partially exposed when retracted, providing additional protection in the unlikely event of a wheels-up landing.

The Yak-52 was engineered to operate in demanding environments and combines rugged construction with straightforward systems and a commanding ramp presence. Few aircraft offer the same blend of radial-engine character, military heritage, aerobatic performance and sheer enjoyment.

This newly forming syndicate provides an accessible route into Yak-52 ownership without taking on the full financial responsibility of owning and operating the aircraft individually.

With six of the seven shares currently available, interested pilots are encouraged to make early contact with Wilco Aviation to discuss the aircraft, proposed syndicate structure and suitability for membership.
