Summary
Vans Aircraft Canopy Restraint
Description
If anyone would like me to make me one of these for their canopy then let me know. I use it on my Vans RV7 that has a slider canopy. The large clip attaches to the fwd fuselage roll bar (1.25inch) and the small clip attaches to the fwd roll bar of the canopy (0.75inch). It allows the canopy to be opened slightly and held in position being prevented from moving backwards and forward. It can be left attached to the fwd roll bar and simply rotated out of the way when required, or detached completely. Also very useful for hanging stuff off.
The only thing you need to remember is to remove it before take off!
Perfect for the hot days ahead, allowing taxiing with a bit of ventilation into the cockpit - hands free.
(Please note that the photo shows a similar product used on a Cap 10 to demonstrate the functionality).
There is also a photo on Flight Radar for G-KIPY (my aeroplane) which shows use of the restraint.
