X-Air F Microlight – Low Hours, Excellent Condition, Proven Trainer

The X-Air F offers exceptional space and comfort, with a cabin wider than a Cessna 172—making it a standout choice among microlights. Known for its forgiving handling and excellent flight characteristics, it has been widely used by flight schools as a reliable and confidence-inspiring trainer.

While many schools have transitioned to newer, higher-cost aircraft such as the C42 and Eurostar, the X-Air F remains a highly capable and economical alternative.

This particular aircraft benefits from very low time, with just 294 hours on both engine and airframe, and has been meticulously cared for. The fabric covering is in excellent condition, having always been hangared and treated annually with UV protection.

The X-Air F represents an evolution of the original X-Air design, incorporating extensive customer feedback and improvements. Notable features include a refined airframe and three-stage flaps, enhancing both performance and versatility.

This aircraft also has added pedigree, having previously served as the company demonstrator, reflecting its quality and standard of build.

A rare opportunity to own a well-maintained, low-hours example of this highly regarded microlight.

Description

SOLD
This 450kg microlight has undergone 8 months of airframe restoration with skins removed and all airframe metal components steam cleaned - so that the internal structure has been restored to almost new condition. Many parts replaced including all fuel hoses replaced, a new gel battery, suspension legs, wing brace tips and some display gauges to modern digital units.

The plane has recently passed its inspection and has been given permission for its flight test, prior to issuing a new permit to fly.

On ground runs, the engine reached full RMP and ran smoothly however the right air cooled cylinder was reading lower than the left and further inspection recorded a lower cylinder head pressure than the left cylinder. This requires the removal of the cylinder to determine the cause of the low pressure. - that's the bad news! The good news is that the plane comes with a donor engine with 2 good cylinders.

I am a pilot and not an engineer and do not have the time or inclination to learn how to remove the cylinder head and replace it with one of the two spare units. The Verner 133M engine I am informed is very similar to the BMW 2 cylinder engine and evidently is not a very difficult job if you know your way around 4 stroke 2 cylinder motorcycle engines, however it is beyond my skill set and so I am placing the plane up for sale.

Please note that for the price of £2,500 you will be purchasing a 4 stroke almost airworthy microlight with a working engine, however one cylinder is performing below capacity. I am not willing to sell below this price as the airframe alone is worth the asking price. This model will also take a Rotax 582, Rotax 912 or Jabiru engine if you have a donor engine sitting around.

The plane is only on sale at this price for the next few weeks, as if it doesn't sell I will have the engine professionally inspected and repaired.
Once sorted and with its permit to fly sorted, it may then be readvertised for a more realistic £5,000

The aircraft is hard wired for power to two microlight headsets and for an ICOM radio.
Airframe and Engine log book for G-CCNL supplied with the aircraft
